Welcome to BOGOFS’ website – your one stop site for information in helping you to Say ‘NO!’ to another supermarket on Gloucester Road.
THE COUNCIL’S DECISION ON WEDS 28TH NOV. WAS TO REFUSE SAINSBURY’S APPLICATION.
THE VOTE WAS 10-1 AGAINST THE APPLICANT’S PLANS.
- The Council refused the applicant’s plans on the grounds of traffic, loss of light industrial space & noise.
- Although Sainsbury’s/Storegap has been refused planning permission, the applicant does have the opportunity to appeal against the decision (and this will mean the application being re-examined by an Independent Planning Inspector).
- A fresh application could be submitted which seeks to overcome the stated reasons for refusal - if this happens, planning officers will be obliged to consider whether they can recommend a decision to grant planning permission or not.
So, the battle’s been won but the war may not be over as the decision to refuse the applicant’s plans could still go to appeal …
